Christmas 2013 Chocolatada Campaign

Support our new Christmas 2013 Chocolatada Campaign by donating at JustGiving At Christmas time Peruvian communities come together to celebrate with the traditional 'Chocolatada'. This is a much anticipated local gathering, where hot chocolate and panettone bread are enjoyed and the children are given a gift of a small toy. However in the poorer, more remote communities children may never experience a chocolatada. It might seem a small thing, but it's a chance to take part in a cultural tradition, socialise with the rest of the community and simply experience the joy of being a child at Christmas time. Last year, as part of it's work with deprived children in the Iquitos area of the Amazon Jungle, the Hand in Hand Trust Trust went by boat to Miraglo - a small river community and organised a Chocolatada for the whole village. This year we would like to raise £1000 for Chocolatadas in four more Amazon River small communities for Christmas 2013. Any donation however small would be appreciated - you could send the money you would normally spend on Christmas cards or even just buy one less present and help enrich the lives of children who have very little at this festive time of year. The photos are of last year’s event in MIRAGLO (the name means MIRACLE). Let’s do it! Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
